I finally found the time to work on building that blank into one fantastic rod. The final touches still have to be made but it is complete enough to be fishable. My goal with this blank was to over line it with a 7wt line but I found that an 8wt was more suited to my casting style.
 
No false casting necessary, one roll cast to put 25 to 30 ft of line on the water then a back cast and it will shoot an 8wt intermediate WF line nearly to the backing. It does false cast quite nicely with the 7wt line.
 
This will be my "go to" schoolie Striper and Bluefish rod and possibly my False Albacore/Bonito rod.

Hi Brian,

I finally completed and got out with the G4. I really like the rod, it casts great. I took it to a small spring creek (normally use a much shorter rod here), just because, and had a great time with it. Looking forward to many more outings.

About a year ago I bought a 7wt G4 from you and didn't like it, you were kind enough to take it back in exchange for a G4 6wt. I hope that this jogs your memory as to who I am.

Brian, I cannot tell you how happy I am with my custom FRX. I really do like it and have treated the wood insert with the wax that you provided and it made it look glossy and rich. I can’t wait to try it out when I finally get a chance to fish with it. The FRX line is now my favorite line. When you get your demo FRLW you have to let me know how it is.
